Your relaxation heaven…..and hell ?

We loved this old fairground arcade ‘game’ at Bressingham. Put in one old penny and have your fortune told. As reliable we fear as Mystic Meg but great fun. And such a helpful resource…remember to avoid a street with a workhouse when moving house if you want eternal happiness!

Today the sun is out bright, hot at 6am and streaming in to TheBigForest hut. We could fill this day with lovely things to do twenty or thirty times  but we must edit.  We want to relax but we can’t chill out doing nothing! There is huge list of things we want to talk about and photos to share with you on the blog. I love writing so that would be a nice thing to do, siting in the shade of the tree in the garden. But a walk through the forest would be good too, or gardening, or baking bread, or sitting and knitting or simply lying here for the whole day with cups of tea and dipping in to the pile of unread vintage design and photography books that are being moved from workspace to living room and then back to the workspace.

But we are going to savour the expectation. The windows are wide open, the blind gently moving in a warm breeze. The birds have woken long ago and we can hear them going about their business.  A plane passes high overhead on its way to Gatwick or Heathrow airport. The passengers looking down on England full of their own expectations – a wonderful holiday, seeing family, back home and work on Monday…. We listen to the edges of the silence, a car in the distance, the trees moving, a bee, a fragment of childs laughter somewhere across a field, a white noise silence that tells us all is well with the world around us.

How do you relax, we would love to know. Do stuff – different stuff from the working week – sleep, sports, read………What is your idea of relaxation heaven (and relaxation hell!)?

Heaven: lying in the park watching excitable dogs and the world pass by
Hell: sitting through a bad film with bad bad acting

    • Mmm, the ‘heaven’ sounds good and I so much agree with the ‘hell’. I feel I should get up and walk out but then maybe things will improve? Or maybe they will get worse and I will feel annoyed I stayed. LOL! Oh the indecision!
