Love your mittens

There was a time when one half of TheBigForest wore vintage all the time. I sort of looked like one of those people at the back of crowd shots in  50’s newspapers, and then I progressed to the 60’s (think capri driver in a bistro) and finally  nudged in to the 70’s (disco pimp on acid). I might go there again – vintage. Although I fancy head gardener in an Edwardian bothy as the look.

These gloves came from a 1950’s pattern and I talked my mum in to knitting them. She was going to knit the matching jumper and I stopped her. What was I thinking of! How much I would love to have that sweater now!

I’ve very rarely worn the mittens because a/ they are not that comfortable b/ they are not warm and c/ what if I lost one, I would be upset. But I love them, they are art and when I was appreciating them the other morning I thought they were worthy of their own special blog post.
