Tourist tea in Brighton

BirthdayTeaBlogWe have passed the B&R Tearooms on several occasions and thought it looked nice so a recent ‘birthday tea’ seemed to be an ideal opportunity to try it out. Oh my, it was more than good, it was fantastic! Guinness and chocolate cake and a flat white for me and, as they say in restaurant reviews, my companion had the pistachio and pear cake and a cappuccino. Scrummy cakes and good coffee, what more do you want?

What about a great ambiance? Check, that is top rated too – cool jazz playing, vintage china tea plates, big windows just right for people watching and a friendly guy behind the counter. Can’t recommend this place too highly.

So if you are a tourist, or even a local, TheBigForest recommends B&R Tearooms, 97 Trafalgar Street, Brighton, East Sussex, England. And if you want to find out more about what to do in Brighton click here (X) to go to the We Love Brighton website.

  1. Looks devine and the menu is mouth watering. How interesting “Pear and Pistachio combo’. Wish they could deliver a piece of that forth-with! LOL

    • It was delicious apparently – although I didnt taste it as I would have had to share my chocolate cake!

Yes a click of the fingers and cake arrives would be great…

  2. Is that the Guiness and chocolate cake? It looks amazing! Is that cream-cheese frosting or buttercream. I desperately want a slice! šŸ™‚

    • Yup, it was cream cheese I think – the whole cake was so subtle in taste. Sweet but not super sweet with the guinness giving depth.

I feel I need to develop a cake tasters vocabulary rather similar to the one used for wine tasting (butter highlights with a cheeky subnote of a Dublin bar and rich chocolate)!

  3. Thanks for that tip….love Brighton…so next visit….CAKE!

  4. I’ve actually not seen B&R before so will have to pay it a visit now that you have mentioned it! Now to figure out when to go šŸ™‚

    • Our other favourite is Nest in the Kensington Gardens in the North Laine. Mind you two cake and coffee stops in one day may be too much! The owner at B&R said they just started and currently had no twitter, facebook or internet sites so unless you find it when passing its still a bit of a ‘secret’ teashop.
