Look up!

LookUpBlog1We look at the ground and straight ahead with good reason – who wants to bump into lampposts and rushing people – but pause for a moment and look up. Above the traffic and crowds lies another world of possibilities. A span of trees, an expanse of skies and often architectural delights hidden above the grubby shop fronts.

Looking up, over, above, edits out the everyday and unlocks the key to new ways of thinking about life and its challenges. For a moment we see in the city the same sky that arches above the beach, the trees that could be a forest. Sometimes that moment of mental travel, a trick to force us in to a new way of thinking, is all we need to recognise that most of what we worry about is unimportant and soon forgotten and we edit out the really big, and potentially life enhancing thoughts by concentrating on the detail of the moment.

  1. I love looking up especially driving over a bridge – there’s something majestic about big fluffy clouds! BTW – I don’t look too long!

  2. Beautifully inspirational post, thank you! I only really look up when I am on one of my runs, it helps me to get to the end of my 5km to look up at the sunshine beaming through the leaves in the trees, I should do it in other areas of my life too though.

    • We dont run, although we admire people who do, but we do love walking. We were thinking about how we always look up and around and savour everything when we are walking but forget when we are in the city.

We are concentrating on holding on to all the postive energy from our holiday (and spreading it out to our blog followers too!)
