In the dog house..

DogBroochBlogIt was back in November when we last blogged about our personalised dog brooches and since then its all gone a bit mad. Dog sculptures and dog brooches seem to be all Benjamin makes and there are pictures of folks dogs all over the place. So I thought I would share just one of the commissions. He is a particular favourite, I love dogs that look as thought they might make you a cup of tea and say ‘cheer up old man’ when you are feeling glum like some 1930’s chap in his club. This dog looks a ‘good sort’.

Maybe its just us but commissions are alway stressful for designer/makers. Will the customer like it or will there be silence, or worse. It’s so lovely to receive complements and several of the recent dog commissions have been repeat customers too.

So dog commissions have been a success, we weren’t barking up the wrong tree, we are not feeling woof and ….I won’t go on, you have got the idea. Tomorrow is a day travelling and I need to pack rations (biscuits) and a good book for the homeward journey when I’m too tired to work and my mind just won’t function.

  1. I’m not surprised these are doing well–they are so full of personality! Completely appealing!

  2. I’m not sure how but I must have missed that original post, what a wonderful idea! Any chance you would branch out into cats?

    • Hi Danni. We have done some cat sketches and will be working on felt cat sculptures and brooches soon. The character is the thing we need to capture. Our dear departed norwegian mountain cat is giving us inspiration!

  3. “Dog commissions” – I have a Pavlovian reaction to that expression, which is ‘panic, panic!’ Not enough hours of the day to keep those pet owners always happy 🙂
