Open Studios: Astro Bear – One Giant Leap for Bearkind

We love retro astronauts! All shiny silver modern and new future bright. And here is TheBigForest take on those 60’s NASA photographs of proud and brave men standing by their rockets after a space flight.AstroBearTheBigForestBlog AstroBearTheBigForestBlog3

Astrobear comes on a custom-made base which Benjamin assures me looks like the surface of the moon. Oh the arguments about paint in the DIY shop..I often wonder what I would think if I heard two guys deep in conversation saying  “…but the bear would look so much better on the grey grit finish because it looks like the moon”. Nurse, more medication for TheBigForest designers please! AstroBearTheBigForestBlog2

Like all our new artist animals Astobear comes with fretwork wood and illustration accessories. We can also personalise your Astrobear with your name on the rocket or custom log books.

It’s a very special rocket too with a picket fence, red front door and a nice dormer window!

We would love to see you at our open studio from the 15th to the 18th May 2014 at Creative Clerkenwell. Click here for more details.AstrobearTheBigForestBlog4

Check back tomorrow for another new work made with creativity and a big grin in TheBigForest hut.

  1. Astro Bear is sooo cute ❤

  2. Looks fabulous; I love all the attention to detail from the ‘acetate’? for the helmet face bit, all the details on the suit, the rocket and not to foget the ‘grey grit surface’ for the moon!

  3. ah don´t worry, you definetly do not need any medication, I find such a conversation perfectly “normal” in the best sense and this bear is perfect – the details on his suit are fantastic and I really love his facial expression, really really wonderful !!!

PS you should hear myself muttering to myself (yes , I am STILL alone :-)))) ) “hm I wonder if my three-headed dragon might be better off with four or five toes on his forefeet, and do his feet in the back have to have the same amount of toes, does he has claws although he is a harmless creature..but he is a dragon, so he should have claws…” … 😉 ….
